Men and women experience hair loss (alopecia). It can severely damage confidence. We work with our clients on hair regrowth.

Hair loss (alopecia) can affect only the scalp but sometimes it can affect the whole body. Alopecia can permanent or temporary. Research shows it can be the result of hormonal changes, heredity, mechanical follicle damage, medical conditions or just ageing. It is more common in men.
Shedding hair is part of a natural balance — some hairs fall out while others grow in. When the balance is interrupted — when hair falls out and less hair grows in — hair loss happens. Hair loss is different than hair shedding. The medical term for hair loss is “alopecia.”
Hair grows on almost all of your skin surfaces — not the palms of your hands, soles of your feet, lips or eyelids. Light, fine, short hair is called vellus hair. Terminal/androgenic hair is thicker, darker and longer.
Hair goes through three cycles:

The anagen phase (growing phase) can last from two years to eight years. This phase generally refers to about 85% to 90% of the hair on your head.
The catagen phase (transition phase) is the time that hair follicles shrink and takes about two to three weeks.
The telogen phase (resting phase) takes about two to four months. At the end of this phase, the hair falls out.
Your shorter hairs like eyelashes, arm and leg hair and eyebrows have a short anagen phase — about one month. Your scalp hair can last up to six years or even longer. What are the types of hair loss? There are three: anagen effluvium, telogen effluvium and FPHL.
Anagen effluvium: This is caused by medications that poison a growing hair follicle (like chemotherapy).
Telogen effluvium: This is caused by an increased number of hair follicles reaching the telogen phase, which is the stage where hair falls out.
Androgenetic alopecia/female pattern alopecia/female pattern hair loss (FPHL)/baldness: This type is the most common. Hair thins over the top of the head and on the sides.
What is hair loss in men?
The most common cause of male hair loss is androgenic alopecia (also known as androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness). The scalp becomes more sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which shortens hair growth cycle length and reduces hair follicle output.
The result is fewer hairs growing over time in certain areas like on the top of the head and over the temples. The hairs that do grow are thinner and more breakable than before.
What is hair loss in women?
Women lose hair daily (between 50 - 100 single hairs a day) but when a woman experiences unexpected, heavy loss of hair it's mostly alopecia.
It is a myth that it's only men affected by hair loss but 50% of women will experience hair loss.
Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) affects around one third of women. (That's about 30 million in the USA alone). Any female can be affected but these are the most prevalent times we are likely to lose hair:
Women older than 40.
Women who have recently given birth.
Women who have been affected by medications, especially chemotherapy.
Women who wear hair styles that tug on the scalp such as a tight ponytail or plaits and those use harsh chemicals on their hair.
Women in menopause.
Vitamin deficiency
Rapid weight loss
Restrictive diets
How we can help you
We use Dermapen4 Treatments for hair loss. The treatment is effective for alopecia conditions where the hair follicle still exists to grow hair.
Dermapen4 procedures stimulate angiogenesis (creation of new blood vessels) nourishing the bulb of each hair, delivering hormones to activate and sustain healthy hair growth.
Has your thinning hair or hair loss shaken your self-esteem? Dermapen Treatments™ for hair loss can reverse many forms of alopecia that affect both men and women, helping restore your hope for thicker, healthier-looking hair.
The Dermapen4 can also be used in conjunction with PRP on your scalp to increase hair volume and further stimulate hair growth.
We may also use the Dermapen 4™ microneedling pen to needle in other topical active drugs and mediums to stimulate hair growth.
It usually takes 4 - 6 treatments with 4 weeks in between each treatment.
Accelerate Your Results
Dermapen procedures along with topical or oral medications can also support hair regrowth. And always, always protect exposed skin on your scalp from sun damage with COVER RECOVER™ CLEAR or SHEER. We have it in the clinic for our clients.
Why not use a dermal roller?
Dermal rollers tear the skin and those tears heal into toughened scars which make it even harder for hair to grow. A Dermapen4 goes into the skin at 90 degrees and immediately is retracted within a millisecond so it doesn't tear the skin. i f you are seeing a lot of bleeding while micro needling, it isn't being done correctly.
What does it cost?
It depends on how large the area is that needs hair renewal. Dermapen 4 starts from £160 but you will first have a free consultation.
